Why do sea turtles eat plastic?

New study shows sea turtles eat plastic because it smells like food.

Scientists have long thought that turtles are drawn towards plastic since they resemble jellyfish.

Turtles were found to be enticed by ‘biofouled’ plastic (covered by microbes, algae, plants and small animals on wet surfaces).
