Rain garden

Slow it, Spread it, Sink it

A rain garden was designed and built to reduce stress on the Knox College campus drainage system during heavy rain. Rain from a nearby building’s roof was diverted through downspouts, into a bed of gravel. Then it flowed into the garden. The plants’ roots hold the soil in place and help absorb the water. The program was conducted by associate Professor William Hope.
